A study on self-assessment of current language skills: The case of Turkish teachers of English

As a consequence of increasing demand for learning foreign language, the population language teachers has increased. English is most preferred all over world, have become subject examination. Given fact majority around world are nonnative speakers, their proficiency crucial. This study aimed at providing baseline data on self-assessment Turkish regarding current in four skills. Data were collected through three-part questionnaire based CEFR C1 can-do statements. A total 70 working state and private schools participated study. The findings revealed that find themselves proficient almost also showed mostly think they competent enough conveying meaning what read more likely to use advanced vocabulary written con-texts than spoken interactions. However, analysis open-ended questions there still room improvement.
